Regent University College of Science and Technology Elects New SRC Leadership in Landslide Victory

 


Accra, Ghana – 20th September – The student body of Regent University College of Science and Technology has spoken decisively, electing its new leadership for the Students' Representative Council (SRC) in a parliamentary-style election held yesterday. The newly elected executives include Afia Apenteng Aboagye (Speaker/SRC President), Philip Anointing Cobbinah (Vice Speaker/SRC Vice President), together with the Clerk to Parliament, Women’s Commissioner, Entertainment Minister, Head of Finance, Sports Minister, Spiritual Affairs Minister, and other parliamentary officers who will make up the full SRC leadership team.

In a resounding victory, the duo of Afia Apenteng Aboagye and Philip Anointing Cobbinah were elected as Speaker (SRC President) and Vice Speaker (SRC Vice President) of the student parliament, securing a commanding 73.72% of the total votes cast.

The newly elected leaders are no strangers to student governance and service. Afia Apenteng Aboagye, a dedicated Level 400 Computer Science student, previously served with distinction as the Clerk to Parliament (General Secretary), where she honed her understanding of parliamentary procedures and administration.

Her partner, Philip Anointing Cobbinah, a dynamic Level 300 Information Technology student, served as the Minister for Students and Spiritual Affairs (Students' Chaplain). His tenure is marked by an extraordinary record of achievement that extends far beyond the university's walls.

Philip Anointing Cobbinah is a renowned innovator and leader. He has successfully led teams to national competitions, including the prestigious Hult Prize and ENACTUS Ghana. Under his leadership, his ENACTUS team won the award for "Best Innovative Project of the Year."

His passion for empowerment is global. Philip manages teams in both Ghana and Cameroon, where he teaches Robotics, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation. In a landmark achievement, he has been selected as the sole representative from Ghana to present a research paper at the upcoming ENACTUS Global Research Network Conference in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 24th. His work consistently focuses on building practical projects aimed at solving critical Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
